The application

Dock Switcher Pro has no account system, no telemetry, no analytics and no crash reporting. Window titles, thumbnails and media information are read and rendered on your Mac and are never transmitted anywhere. Your trial state and your serial number are stored in your local keychain. Licence checks happen on-device against a public key compiled into the application, so the app does not contact us to verify anything — it works with the network switched off.

There is exactly one case where the application sends anything off your Mac, and it is optional: when Apple Music withholds cover art for a track you have not downloaded, the app can ask Apple's public iTunes Search service for the artwork, sending only the track title, artist and album. This can be switched off in Settings › Integrations, and nothing else is ever sent.

Buying a licence

Payment is handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us; Stripe's own privacy policy covers that processing. From a completed purchase we store, on our own server, the following purchase records:

  • the Stripe checkout session and payment identifiers;
  • a one-way hash of the email address you gave Stripe — not the address itself;
  • the machine code you entered at checkout, and the day your serial was signed.

We temporarily retain your email address in a delivery queue so failed licence emails can be retried after a restart. It is removed from the active queue when delivery succeeds; backup copies follow the configured backup retention period. We do not use it for marketing.

We do not store your serial number. The hash lets us recognise you if you write to support quoting the address you paid with; it cannot be turned back into an address, and it is used only to match purchase records. Pending delivery addresses are used only to send licence emails. Stripe holds the real address against the payment, which is the record tax law requires — if you want it erased, that is a request to make of us and we will pass it on.

When you use licence recovery, we use the submitted machine code to locate the related Checkout reference and ask Stripe to confirm the payment. We also retain Checkout references created before payment for this purpose. Recovery returns only the machine-bound licence and payment state, not billing details.

Your serial is not stored because it does not need to be: it is a signature over your machine code and the day it was issued, so those two values reproduce it exactly whenever it is needed again. A database that never held a serial cannot leak one.

A machine code is itself a one-way cryptographic hash of hardware identifiers. It is not reversible into your Mac's serial number and tells us nothing about you, your name, your location or your files. We need it because it is what your serial is issued against.

We also keep a short record of each issuance — the machine code, whether it succeeded, and the request's IP address and user agent — as an abuse-prevention trail and so that a payment which failed to produce a serial is never silent.

How long it is kept

Purchase and issuance records are kept for as long as we sell the software plus any period required by tax and accounting law, because they are the only way to help a customer who has lost a serial and the only record that a payment was fulfilled. We do not sell, rent or share this data, and we do not use it for marketing. We will email you about your own purchase and nothing else.

The website

The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies and embeds no third-party analytics or social scripts. The web server keeps ordinary access logs (IP address, timestamp, requested path, user agent) for security and troubleshooting, rotated on a short schedule. Going through checkout takes you to Stripe's own pages, which are subject to Stripe's policy.

Your choices

To ask what we hold about your purchase, to correct it, or to request deletion, email alvin.app.contact@gmail.com from the address you used at checkout. Note that deleting a purchase record means we can no longer resend or verify your code — your existing serial keeps working, since it does not depend on our server, but we would no longer be able to help if you lose it. Some records must be retained where tax law requires it.
